Notiz
"The object of this thesis is to examine the role of masochism, the masochistic attitude toward life, and masochistic social and sexual behavior, as it exists in German drama in the first quarter of the twentieth century. The study focuses on five plays representative of the period and examines them from the bias of psychology and psychiatry, focusing on their psychological implications while ignoring for the most part those other factors, social, economic, political, symolic, literary, which may also be inherent in the dramas in question" (S. 3811 A). -- In einem Abschlußkapitel wird auf weitere Dramen und Autoren sowie auf deren Autobiographie eingegangen.
