This book is a survey of an anti-Jewish motif current in Germany for six hundred years. It bears on Jewish history and on the history of anti-Semitism as well as on aspects of animal symbolism and allegories of virtues and vices. But its chief aim is to present a case study on an abusive stereotype and its development" (S. vii). [...] What had begun as a Christian allegory of a vice developed over the centuries into a stereotype of anti-Semitic abuse" (S. 65). - Mit umfangreichem (chronologisch geordneten) Bildanhang.
